Through our many programs, we actively monitor the way we use resources to reduce, reuse, and reclaim valuable byproducts for use in other industries, as well as provide a safe and inclusive work environment to ensure the well-being and success of our team members.
At Patrick Industries, our environmental, social, and governance-related initiatives are a top priority. In 2020, we hit a milestone on our ESG journey by establishing a formal ESG Committee, which comprises many of our most passionate team members and is backed by senior management in partnership with Board sponsorship and oversight.
We have implemented several programs to reclaim and recapture excess materials and waste generated from the various manufacturing processes of our business units. Through these reclamation initiatives, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint and manage waste more efficiently in our operations.
Other ongoing initiatives include replacing fluorescent and high-pressure sodium light bulbs with LED bulbs, exploring the use of electric-powered fork trucks in our operations, expanding our wood recycling program across our hardwood and lamination business units, and continuing our paper and cardboard recycling initiatives.
We are committed to ensuring the health, well-being, and personal and professional development of our people and the communities in which we do business. We have several initiatives in place to promote our social wellness goals. These initiatives focus on building and maintaining a strong and positive workplace culture and investing in our team members and the communities in which they live and work by offering them opportunities and resources to learn and achieve their full potential.
